About
Coach Caelan Hamied is an ambitious and detail-oriented coach who brings experience from both the collegiate and high-performance youth levels to Hoover-Vestavia Soccer’s MLS NEXT program. Currently serving as an Assistant Coach at UMass Amherst, Caelan is actively involved in all aspects of a Division I program, including training implementation, opposition analysis, scouting, and match preparation. His responsibilities extend to game model execution and set-piece organization, giving him a comprehensive understanding of the demands at the highest levels of the college game. Prior to UMass, Caelan gained valuable experience at Yale University, where he contributed to training sessions, player development through video analysis, and recruiting at both regional and national levels. In addition to his collegiate experience, Caelan has demonstrated strong leadership as a head coach in both youth and pre-professional environments. As Head Coach with GZS Bridgeport (UPSL), he managed a full roster in a competitive performance setting, delivering structured training sessions, match preparation, and post-game analysis. His impact was recognized with multiple “Coach of the Week” honors. At the youth level, Caelan has a proven track record of player development and program growth. He successfully developed players into higher-level teams and significantly increased participation within his programs, reflecting his ability to build environments that challenge and engage players at all stages of their development. Caelan holds a U.S. Soccer B License, demonstrating his commitment to continued professional development and alignment with the highest coaching standards in the game. At HVS, Caelan contributes to the club’s high-performance environment through his attention to detail, modern analytical approach, and ability to connect with players. His work supports the MLS NEXT vision of developing complete players through a structured, demanding, and professional training environment.
