About
Matthieu Delcroix brings extensive international experience, elite-level coaching education, and a deeply structured approach to player development to Hoover-Vestavia Soccer’s MLS NEXT program. Holding a UEFA A License and currently completing a Professional Master in Tactical Periodization, Matthieu has built his career within some of the most respected development systems in world football, including the French Football Federation (FFF), FIFA-supported academies, and national team environments. Matthieu’s background includes significant leadership roles in both youth development and high- performance settings. He has served as a Youth National Team Head Coach and Assistant Coach in New Caledonia, participating in multiple World Cup qualification cycles, while also managing national academy structures and long-term player development pathways. In the United States, Matthieu has coached within MLS NEXT, including position with Sacramento United, where he focused on implementing game models, video analysis systems, and decision-making frameworks for players. Most recently, Matthieu has worked within the French Football Federation’s elite development structure in Guadeloupe, serving as an Assistant Director and U16 Head Coach. In this role, he oversees player development across multiple age groups, integrates performance data (GPS tracking), and collaborates across medical, educational, and performance departments to support holistic player growth. In addition to his team coaching experience, Matthieu has contributed to coach education, delivering courses through the French Football Federation and leading sessions on key topics such as self-awareness and emotional management further demonstrating his commitment to developing both players and coaches. Fluent in both French and English, Matthieu is known for his detail-driven, analytical, and player-centered approach, combining tactical periodization, video analysis, and individualized development planning to prepare players for the next level of the game. At HVS, Matthieu plays a key role in delivering a high-performance environment aligned with the club’s MLS NEXT vision - developing complete players through structure, clarity, and a modern understanding of the game.
